Dr. Joseph W Chan

Dr. Joseph W. Chan is a highly adept scholar-practitioner with a research background focused on policies and practices that work to expand access and success for historically marginalized populations. Dr. Chan holds expertise in assessment and research, advisement, legal and ethical practice in higher education, organizational leadership, student development theory, and equitable educational practice.
He currently serves as an Admissions Advisor III at Trident University International where he helps students jump-start their path to graduation, while ensuring each student is properly prepared for their academic endeavors. Additionally, he teaches and facilitates the first-year experience course to incoming students. His mission in life is closing the achievement gap across different communities, so that all individuals have an equitable opportunity for a better life. He is a lifelong learner, an advocate for social justice, and a charismatic individual fluent in technology and best practices.
Prior to joining Trident, he has worked at the University of Southern California (USC) in a variety of capacities. Some examples include the Office of International Services, American Language Institute, Career Center, Asian Pacific American Student Services, Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, and Gould School of Law.
His education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from California Baptist University, Master of Education in Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs from University of Southern California, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Trident University International.
