February 2, 2018 – Cypress, CA – Trident University International (Trident) today announced that doctoral alumnus Dr. Mahmoud Soliman will present his research entitled “Examining Impulsive Purchase Intention among Smartphone Shoppers: The Moderating Roles of Consumer Knowledge and Product Involvement” at the American Marketing Association’s (AMA) Winter Academic Conference.
This research was co-authored with Dr. Qin Sun, Dr. Soliman’s dissertation chair, and Dr. Rajasree K. Rajamma.
The purpose of this study was to explore impulsive purchasing in the mobile commerce setting. This type of commerce can satisfy a customer’s desire in a very short time. The researchers examined how messaging about products or services limited in availability impacted the purchasing choices of customers while on smartphones. The results indicated that messaging can positively affect certain groups of consumers.
This year’s AMA Winter Academic Conference titled, “Integrating Paradigms in a World Where Marketing is Everywhere,” will be held February 23rd-25th in New Orleans, LA, at the Sheraton New Orleans.
This year’s theme continues AMA’s trend of creating a “big tent” space where marketing scholars from across the discipline come together, recognizing that marketing is both influencing, and being influenced by, a diverse set of forces from across the business world and academia.
Dr. Soliman earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Trident and currently serves as a Marine Operations Manager at a steam shipping line in the state of Virginia. Soliman also holds a Master of Science degree with honors in International Transportation Management from the State University of New York, Maritime College, as well as an undergraduate degree in Maritime Studies from the Merchant Marine Academy in Alexandria, Egypt.
