October 17, 2014 – Cypress, CA – On Saturday, October 25th, Trident University International (Trident) will serve as one of the sponsors for the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association’s (OCPFA) First Responders Cup Benefit Softball Game.
Supporting the OCPFA Fallen Firefighter Relief Fund, this event features the Orange County Fire Team squaring off against the Orange County Law Enforcement Team. This fundraiser will be held at Colonel Bill Barber Memorial Park at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine, California. Doors open at 6:30 pm and game time is at 7:00 pm.
Events like this, and the annual Los Alamitos Race on the Base, allows Trident to stay active locally through the support of a worthy cause. Furthermore, as a 100% online university, the University values opportunities like these to interact face-to-face with neighbors in its Orange County community.
The OCPFA Fallen Firefighters Relief Fund directly benefits the families of firefighters who lost their lives while fighting fires. This relief fund was founded in 1998 to help out the families of two local firefighters lost in the line of duty. Since then the fund was stepped up numerous times to aid those families in need, donating over $200,000 to ease the grief and hardship of these tragedies.
The OCPFA represents over 950 professional firefighters of the Orange County Fire Authority. Their collective resources provide fire protection to 23 cities and 1.5 million citizens in Orange County.
