Chief Petty Officer (Ret.) Michael Butterfield was born in, Lexington, KY and raised in Jacksonville, FL. He enlisted in the United States Navy on May, 17th 1995 and retired in May 2017. Throughout his time in the Navy Michael earned Six Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and various unit and campaign awards.
Michael started to prepare for life after the Navy by earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from TUI University in December 2011 and a Master of Arts in Education in April 2015 from Trident University International graduating with cum laude honors. His commitment to education set the standard amongst his peers and he advocated and challenged them to do the same. Michael’s goal was to influence every one of his Sailors to enroll in college. Knowing that education is the key to success in and out of the military, whether they were going to be career service members or transition out of the military. Michael’s commitment to education and desire to help others makes him a perfect fit to advocate and understand the unique needs of working adults.
Michael believes that a Positive Mental Attitude is a way of life and that positivity is contagious.
