September 16, 2019 – Cypress, CA – Trident University International (Trident) is announcing its new Associate of Science in Homeland Security (ASHLS) program. This is the University’s second program at the associate level. Instruction for the ASHLS program starts in the November 4, 2019 Fastrac session.
This new program is aligned with the five mission areas of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) National Preparedness Goal (2015), specifically prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery.
The ASHLS program was developed by Dr. Mickey Shachar, Dean of the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS); Dr. Patricia Rhynders, Associate Dean, CHHS; Dr. Rudolph Bustos, Department Chair in Homeland Security; and Dr. Pietro “Pete” Savo, Full-time Faculty, CHHS.
Career preparation is a key component of the ASHLS program, with students being equipped with the relevant knowledge, skills, and disposition required to succeed in homeland security roles at federal, state, municipal, and business organizations.
The ASHLS is designed to stack into higher-level degree programs at Trident. Graduates have the ability to transfer 60 completed credits into the Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security program (BSHLS). Additionally, ASHLS graduates who complete the BSHLS with a concentration in either Emergency Disaster Management or Cybersecurity can apply up to 12 credits towards the Master of Science in Homeland Security program.
The ASHLS program is open for enrollment starting today. New students may be able to receive course credit for their military training.
