June 18, 2020 – Chandler, AZ – Dr. Vernell Hall, a 2020 graduate of Trident at American InterContinental University’s (Trident) Doctor of Business Administration program, has been selected to present at the 2020 Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in August.
Dr. Hall’s selected paper, “Examining an Information System Used to Process Employees Award: A Qualitative Study,” is an applied study exploring pitfalls associated with the military’s use of Global Electronic Approval Routing System (GEARS) for the processing of service members’ awards.
Despite the benefits of this automated system, there have been concerns about delays in the processing of awards. Given that an award’s suspense date is common knowledge to service members, processing delays beyond this pre-defined date can adversely impact both motivation and job satisfaction.
This paper is based on Dr. Hall’s Doctoral Studies Project (DSP). His co-authors include his DSP chair, Dr. Angie Cox, Dr. Indira Guzman, Doctoral Studies Director in Trident’s Glenn R. Jones College of Business, and Dr. Christopher Linski, Professor of Doctoral Studies at Trident.
Dr. Hall has served in the U.S. Armed Forces for more than 20 years. He earned a masters degree from Florida Institute of Technology and a bachelors degree from University of Maryland Global Campus.
The 2020 Americas Conference on Information Systems is scheduled to run from August 10-14 and will be held virtually this year.
