March 15, 2018 – Cypress, CA –Trident University International (Trident) is excited to announce another academic program improvement. Starting in the April 23rd Fastrac session, the Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security program will offer a concentration in Emergency Disaster Management.
Housed in Trident’s College of Health and Human Services, the BSHLS-EDM is designed for both military and civilian students who want to learn how to prevent and react to natural and human-caused events like hurricanes, earthquakes, toxic spills, and national security matters.
Career paths under the homeland security umbrella are projected to grow significantly in the near future. From 2016-2026, the need for emergency management directors is expected to increase by 8% and information security analysts is projected to increase by 26%.
The faculty in this program bring a mix of experience from the military, academia, and the private sector. Dr. David Alegre is a military veteran with experience in weapons of mass destruction protection planning, and Dr. Paul Persaud currently serves as the Program Director, Paterson Division of Health for the State of New Jersey.
The launch of this new concentration is part of Trident’s desire to deliver the most relevant curricula to its students. In 2017, the Master of Science in Homeland Security introduced two new concentrations: Emergency Disaster Management and Logistics.
