May 30, 2019 – Cypress, CA – The Americas Conference of Information Systems (AMCIS) 2019 has selected Trident University International’s (Trident) Dr. Indira Guzman as Co-chair for the Advanced Doctoral Consortium. This year’s conference runs from August 15th-17th in Cancun, Mexico.
The Advanced Doctoral Consortium is designed for students who have completed their coursework and/or comprehensive examination, are working on their dissertation, and are planning to enter the job market in the next year.
As outlined on the AMCIS 2019 website, the three primary objectives of this consortium are to provide networking opportunities for doctoral students with peers and seasoned researchers, to help students formulate plans for their research and career, and to prepare students for the job market.
AMCIS is an annual conference for information systems and information technology academics and professionals sponsored by the Association for Information Systems. AMCIS is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious conferences for IS/IT in the Western Hemisphere. Other universities taking part in the AMCIS 2019 Advanced Doctoral Consortium include University of Georgia, Colorado State, Washington State, and Saint Louis University.
Dr. Guzman is Doctoral Studies Director, Glenn R. Jones College of Business, where she oversees the Ph.D. in Business Administration program, and the online Doctor of Business Administration program that was launched in Fall 2017.
Dr. Guzman joined Trident in 2006, and assumed the role of Doctoral Studies Director in 2016. She previously served as Program Director for the Ph.D. in Business Administration program, and prior to that was Director of the Computer Science and Information Technology Programs.
During her time at Trident, Dr. Guzman has made curriculum changes following standard learning outcomes of organizations like AACSB, Association of Information Systems (AIS), Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP), and ABET, the accrediting body for computer science programs. She was instrumental in making Trident an academic advocate of ISACA, Cyberwatch West, and NCWIT.
Before coming to Trident, Dr. Guzman served as Senior Research Associate at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. She was awarded the prestigious NSF Research Fellowship in 2004 and is a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Guzman has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences, including several with former business doctoral students.
Dr. Guzman holds a Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology and Master of Science in Information Management, both from Syracuse University, and a certificate in Performance Assessment in Higher Education from Harvard University.
