Cypress, CA, September 26, 2011 – Trident University International is pleased to announce that Command Sergeant Major (Ret) Joe Gainey, a member of the University’s Board of Managers, is a recipient of the 2011 Order of Saint George Gold Medallion. CSM Gainey was knighted along with Colonel (Ret) William Hanson during the 2011 Maneuver Conference in Fort Benning on September 13th. “I am deeply honored to receive the Order of Saint George Gold Medallion,” said CSM Gainey. “I am humbled to be in the company of my fellow Medallion winners.”
A retired Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army and a TUI graduate, CSM Gainey was the first Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (SEAC). Enlisting in the Army in 1974, CSM Gainey went on to hold every leadership position from gunner to Command Sergeant Major. He served in Operation Joint Endeavor (IFOR), Operation Joint Guard (SFOR 3) and Operation Joint Forge (SFOR 8) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in Operation Iraqi Freedom II. CSM Gainey retired from the Army in April 2008 after 33 years of service.
